THE INDO-SHASTRI CANADIAN INSTITUTE The Indo-Shastri Canadian Institute announces Québec Tuition Fee Exemption for Indian Students, enabling Indian students to study in Québec universities on Québec domestic fee. In order to avail this tuition fee exemption, an Indian student must pursue full-time study at master’s or doctoral level in a Québec university. Those, who have already availed the tuition fee, exemption last year are not eligible to apply this year. The priority areas of studies would be literature, Québec studies and the teaching of the French language; education and pedagogical innovation; multimedia and information technologies; scientific research; engineering; public administration; business administration, financial services and management; environmental science; health.

• ELIGIBILITY:
The students desirous of studying at Québec universities must apply directly to English or French universities of Québec. On acceptance by the university, the doctoral/ master’s level students must apply in the prescribed proforma to the Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute along with the acceptance/ admission letter from the Québec university. The Institute will select candidates (15 students for master’s and 11 students at the doctoral level) for supplemental tuition fee exemption.

UNIVERSITY OF BRITISH COLUMBIA INTERNATIONAL LEADER AWARD The University of British Columbia honors through the International Leader of Tomorrow (ILOT) programme recognises international students who demonstrate superior academic achievement, leadership skills, involvement in student affairs and community service, recognised achievement in fields of endeavour such as the performing arts, sports, debating or creative writing, or external academic competitions and examinations. ILOT Award winners receive an award-level commensurate with their financial need as determined by the costs of their tuition, fees and living costs, minus the financial contribution the student and their family can
make annually towards these costs. A standard needs-assessment is made, based on financial information provided by students and their families. The award can be renewed for up to three additional years of undergraduate study, or to degree completion, whichever is less, provided the student achieves satisfactory academic standing in their faculty, continues to demonstrate financial need, and maintains their Canadian Study Permit (visa).

• ELIGIBILITY:
To be considered for an ILOT sward you must: be entering a UBC undergraduate degree programme from a recognised secondary school, college or other university; be admissible to the first choice programme you are applying to, including meeting UBC's English Language Admission Standard; have an excellent academic record (at least an "A" average or equivalent standard); be an international student, who is neither a Canadian citizen nor a permanent resident of Canada, and who will be studying in Canada on a Canadian Study Permit (visa); demonstrate a level of financial need that would otherwise prevent you from pursuing a UBC degree.

• APPLICATION:
Candidates must be nominated by their current school or college/ university. So if you wish to be considered for an award, speak to your school or college/university counsellor. If you are accepted for nomination, the counsellor must use the ILOT nomination package available for download on the website. Nominees must also complete the online application for academic admission. Although applicants to UBC can specify two program choices in their application for admission, an ILOT Award nomination will be
considered only in relation to the nominee's first choice programme. Early application is encouraged, to ensure an application decision can be made in time for nomination consideration.

SYDNEY ACHIEVERS INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS, AUSTRALIA University of Sydney in Australia is offering up to 100 scholarships for high achieving, academically meritorious, international students, inviting them to enjoy the "Sydney experience". For undergraduate: AUD$10,000 each per
annum for any undergraduate programme offered at the University of Sydney (subject to the recipient maintaining satisfactory academic progress each year). For postgraduate: AUD$10,000 each per annum, (ie, $15,000 in total for a one and half year programme, $20,000 in total for a two-year programme) available for any postgraduate coursework programme offered at the University of Sydney (subject to the recipient maintaining satisfactory academic progress each year).

• ELIGIBILITY:
For undergraduate: Applicants must have completed an Australian year 12 qualification or an international senior secondary qualification accepted by the University with an outstanding Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR) or equivalent, as deemed by the University of Sydney. Students completing foundation studies programmes offered by Australian or New Zealand universities are eligible. Students, who have already commenced tertiary studies, or students transferring with credit exemptions and/or advanced standing, are not eligible. For postgraduate: Applicants must have completed the equivalent of an Australian bachelor’s degree qualification with outstanding results based on the Australian grading system. Students who have already commenced postgraduate studies, or students transferring with credit exemptions and/or advanced standing, are not eligible.
